2025 Scarecrow Contest Registration

Thank you for your interest in Mapleton City's annual Scarecrow Contest. We invite you to create a one-of-a-kind scarecrow for the competition. Individuals, families, groups, organizations, and businesses (great advertising opportunity!) can participate for fun prizes.

Judging will take place at the annual Scarecrow Spectacular on Sat., October 11, 2025. The scarecrows will remain on display by Mapleton City hall through the end of October.

Contest Rules:

• Posts for the scarecrows will be provided for each entry by Mapleton City. All entries will receive a number that day on Sat., October 11, 2025. The number will correspond with a post at the Mapleton City Hall.

• Scarecrow set up and decorating will take place at Mapleton City Hall on Sat., October 11 from 9:00am-2:00pm. Scarecrows must be completed by 2:00pm.
  

• Judging will take place that same day from 3:00pm-5:00pm. Awards will be given out shortly after 5:00pm.

• Creations should be “Family Friendly” and remain appropriate for viewing. They must fall into one of five categories: Traditional, Schools, Original, Business (a great way to advertise locally!) or Minor league (children 15 and younger).

• All entries will be displayed through Thurs., October 11, 2025. Entrants should do their best to maintain and keep their scarecrow in good condition. Scarecrows should be removed on October 25th. Any scarecrows remaining after that day will be discarded.

• Scarecrows may reflect a special theme and/or promote an organization, event, or business.

• The city will provide 1 post in ground for your scarecrow.

• Scarecrows should be constructed to withstand weather.

• Appropriate signage may be displayed to identify your scarecrow or promote your business or organization. Please use weatherproof signs.

• All entries may use battery powered lights only. No gas-powered generators are allowed.

• Scarecrows reflecting controversial, social, religious, or political opinions or statements will not be accepted. Mapleton City reserves the right to remove any scarecrow it deems offensive or inappropriate.

By submitting this entry form, I/We agree to follow the contest rules. I/We release Mapleton City from any and all claims for personal loss, damage, or injury incurred during the Scarecrow Spectacular. Mapleton City is not responsible for damage or loss of a scarecrow entry. I/We also give permission for the use of names and photos of any scarecrow entry for publicity in relation to the event. I/We will display and maintain our Scarecrow at Mapleton City Hall from October 11-25, 2025.
